The rapid shifts in funding, policies, and commitments are shaking the foundation of so many organizations. I'm hearing the same concerns in higher ed, nonprofits, startups, and large companies: morale is low, people are tired, and it’s hard to feel grounded in the work.

This is where intentional joy practices can make a real difference. In my Journey to Joy class at Penn and in recent leadership workshops, I guide teams in creating JoyPlans, practical tools that help leaders and staff reconnect with what matters, reimagine how they collaborate, and build joy into their everyday workflow.

We use a JoyPlan Card as a starting point to help leaders think deeply about the systems, schedules, and choices that support or block joy at work.

🟡 JoyPlan Card (for teams and leaders):

  1. What brings you joy at work?
  2. What gets in the way of that joy?
  3. What would it look like to design your week around more of what brings you joy?
  4. Who on your team helps you feel connected and seen?
  5. What’s one small thing you can do tomorrow to invite more joy into your workday?

One of the methods I use is joy stacking, a strategy that helps individuals layer joyful moments throughout their day so that even hard or chaotic work is balanced by things that replenish.

If your team is navigating burnout, transition, or culture challenges, I’d love to support you.
