I’ve been thinking a lot about checking in lately—those spontaneous or planned moments when we reach out just to say, “Hey, I’m thinking about you.” A quick text, a FaceTime, a call—tiny gestures that carry big weight.

Now more than ever, the world feels chaotic, and we’re all carrying more than we realize. That’s why checking in isn’t just about supporting others—it’s about bringing joy to them AND you. ❤️✨

But don’t just take my word for it—I checked in with my best friend, Erica Taylor, a licensed clinical mental health counselor with over 11 years of experience, to get her take on how to check in meaningfully.

Here’s what she said:

🔹 Reach out—even when you don’t know what to say. A simple “Hey, you’ve been on my mind” can shift someone’s whole day.

🔹 Listen without trying to “fix.” Sometimes, people just need to feel heard. Hold space for them, no solutions needed.

🔹 Respect boundaries but keep the door open. If they’re not ready to talk, let them know you’re there: “No pressure, just wanted to remind you I’m here.”

🔹 Lead with love and compassion. A little kindness, patience, and grace go a long way.

So here’s my challenge: Check in with someone today. It could mean everything to them—and you. 💙
