Are You Having Enough Fun?At home? At work? With others? Alone?
A reflection on shifting from treating fun as a reward to making it central to a thriving life—showing how joy planning can help us intentionally create and protect moments of fun.

Lately, I’ve been building a life that feels good now—not just later.
A life where joy and fun aren’t afterthoughts. They’re strategy. They’re central. For most of my life, I treated fun like dessert—something sweet you earn after the grind. A bonus. A reward. But now I’m asking: why wait?
Joy planning has helped me reimagine what a thriving life actually looks like. Work is still necessary—but it’s no longer the centerpiece. These days, I’m focused on cultivating joy on purpose. And that includes making room for fun.
Sometimes fun includes others—dinners, travel, lighthearted convos. But more and more, I’m realizing I don’t need company to enjoy myself. A cold ginger ale and a scroll through Zillow listings? That’s not just fun—it’s manifestation in motion.
Like joy, fun takes intention.
And I’ve decided it’s my responsibility to create it, seek it, protect it.
So I’ll ask you:
What are you doing to insert fun into your joy plan?
